There’s a Little Lion in All of Us

The Lion King Steps Off Broadway and into the YMCA.

I recently discovered that there is a little lion in all of us.

Cast members from Disney’s THE LION KING recently visited children in a dance class at the M.D. Anderson YMCA during summer day camp.  More than 100 children (including my daughter) were treated to a 30-minute lesson that gave them a chance to interact with THE LION KING cast and tackle a few steps of the Tony Award-winning choreography.

Day camp counselors made sure the kids came prepared, painting their faces like lions.  The kids loved it.  The THE LION KING dancers were patient, engaging and impressive.   The day camp counselors were encouraging, helpful and great role models.  Counselors did the dance too and even did their own group performance just for the kids.  But the day campers stole the show, dancing and jumping in time to the music and smiling as if they were on the Broadway stage.
